Thyrgrim is a German formation playing Black Metal. The band formed in 2005 although the played under a different name before. Since then they released a bunch of albums and anno 2015 it is time for the release of album number five: “Dekaden”. It is out now.
The Black Metal from these guys has some pagan influences. This is not a very strong element of their sound though. What stands out most are the diverse tempo’s the band brings into it. Some melodic parts are rather slow but the band could speed it up just as well, creating a dramatic playfield. Maybe it will not send you to listen something unique, the band does not have much that highlights their own face too much, but the quality they bring is well so for many this release will be interesting enough.
Maybe there is something about this release that will please the dedicated Black Metal listener as there are some direct messages to other acts to be found, but we will not spoil the surprise by telling you too much already. Listening to an album as “Dekaden” is not going to give you something extremely different but the guys delivered a well thought album that has quality and skills so therefore it may just be a nice addition for your collection.
