The Danish synth pop duo It’s A Synth exists since 2011. They now release an album called “Curiosity” which is their debut album.
It’s A Synth… that must be something to do with Pet Shop Boys. And that thought is not too far off as the band says to be inspired by them and some others from that era. The music is soft and danceable, a collection of tracks that follow each other closely, the problem with that is that neither of the songs has a strong identity. It just does not stand apart. Not one you could see as a single, they are all in one line. Therefor you are soon feeling that you have heard it all, no variation kills it, but then you are only halfway at their track list. The idea the guys bring with their sound is not really that bad, but perhaps they need to search for a way to have songs that shake it up a bit.
“Curiosity” is an album that shows a duo that has a good idea for their sound, but not expanded enough on it. We hope the guys are breaking from themselves, and create a couple of songs that are radically different to make sure you want to hear the whole release.
