Rifftera – Pitch Black

The Finnish Rifftera formed in 2010. A few demo’s got out but anno 2015 the band is ready for the release of their debut album. “Pitch Black” is out now.

Some of the material on this release is also to be found on the band’s released demo’s, so maybe there is much new for the long time fans. However, for those who have not heard the band before it is a nice summarize. The guys are bringing Death Metal mixed with some Thrash. As a first time listener it is maybe not the most unique sound but the guys are bringing it with bravura and energy which makes it pleasant to listen to. The melodic parts are a nice add and never interfere with the vehemence that is in it. Here and there some keys coming in are certainly a nice surprise.
The album comes with variety in the songs, which keep a listener with them. The songs are well thought and this results in an album that does well compared the many others coming in. It sticks out because it is done in quality.

As a tip the band could maybe highlight their own identity a little bit more and then the next on is one we won’t want to put away at all!
