Being as an Ocean was formed in 2011 after the band Vanguard, in which were all founding members, disbanded. The band name comes from a quote by Mahatma Gandhi; “You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”

The band initially had guitarist Tyler Ross write the whole first album right after its formation. This is the third full length studio album by the Californians from Alpine, and it is self-titled. This release is coming with ten songs. Shouted and sung vocals taking parts, with always some clean vocals in the background for the melody, accompanied by thriving riffs and tough drumming. This self-titled release by Being As An Ocean is filled with catchy melodies and kick ass lyrics. The post-hardcore rockers play with some musical elements to not only bring across the message they are having, but also to carry the emotions that go with it. The bridge of “Sleeping Sicarii” even includes a choir. The music is strong and empowering, carrying hope and loyalty. This third album by Being As An Ocean is a beautiful album with quite some songs that will touch you and get stuck in your head. The arrangements are letting every fan of hardcore rock music go along instantly, getting their muscles to twitch and shout along to the choruses at least. So go ahead and get this brilliant album by Being As An Ocean.
