Female Fronted Elysian Gates is having its base in Luxembourg. Formed in 2010 they started working on some music and in 2013 they had a debut out. After that they got their current vocaliste on board and yet in 2015 they had to start again with a new vocaliste. The band now returns with a new album called “Crossroads”
She is said to have a wide range of vocals, this Leer Noémi. Yes, indeed she uses her voice in various ways going from growls towards the higher notes but these higher notes are not embracing the best of her reach. She is at her best going deep and raw giving the band a bit more vehemence with that touch. That this lady presses a stamp onto their sound is clear when hearing also some strings included, also by this lady. The further arrangements are also giving a nice atmospheric touch to the sound. But it is too easy to hear only the frontwoman here, the rest of the band has qualities to be heard as well. Jumping out was the bass, surprisingly making itself presence in a way that you would not expect it to be, so much upfront.
Altogether this album turns out well. Perhaps they could focus most on the strongest parts of the vocals though, letting these higher notes be a minority rather than defining them. Well on their way we would say!
