Odious – Skin Age

[schema type=”review” name=”Odious – Skin Age” description=”Label: The Leaders” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-02-12″ ]
Odious is a band from Egypt that formed in 1998. After spending some time making Doom they transferred to Black Metal and anno 2016 they are releasing their second full length album over Europe. It’s called “Skin Age”and it is out now.

Drama, drama, drama. Odious has a strong sense for it. With the use of orchestra elements they create a quite rich scene on the canvas of the atmosphere they want to create. Think a bit in the direction of Dimmu Borgir. They give it an oriental touch and therefore put some of themselves into this album.
If you look at a whole the songs are in good line with each other, but for some they might have gone a step too far, depending on what of a purist listener you are. They have spent a significant amount of time working on the concept and in working out the details as it seems that all is quite refined. Strong vocals, instrumentally they work it just as much and the balance remains in it. However the drama is a major part in it, it does not take over from the music.

“Skin Age” is a complete album, it has all elements together. Definitely worth to give a try.
