Kratherion plays Black/Death Metal and has their base in Chile. Started in 2000 the guys created a debut full length in 2008. Another five years later the album “Mantra Lucifer Flagelantes” gets released and anno 2015 the band is spreading this release worldwide.
Fair to say, the release is already some years old, but for many it may be a good discovery. The brutal approach of their sound lays the basis for this release. The tempo is not too high, giving you the time to listen not only to the instrumental mix, existing out of interesting riffs coming upfront and some drums right behind that as a dominating factor, but also to the vocals and the words brought. Most of these are in Spanish but some tracks are in English.
The production of this albums adds to the atmosphere of the release. They chose to keep it minimal, not too much to it and give it that thicker layer that gives it its vehemence. It is to hear that the band has a love for the bigger names of the scene and that inspiration in there is coming out in their advance. Instead of making it too obvious the guys know to give it their own shape making “Mantra Lucifer Flagelantes” and good release to listen to.
