The Dutch formation A Liquid Landscape has interesting year behind. They played at several places, recently for example with the Finnish Poets of the Fall, and also released their brand new album called: “The Largest Fire Known To Man”.
Yes, the concert with Poets of the Fall. Perhaps they were a bit too Progressive there but a polite response was given. They did not make a great impression on us back there so when we received the album we hoped this would warm us a little more. Fair enough, it did and it didn’t. It comes across much more energetic as what we had seen there in Zoetermeer and with all instruments a bit more vibrant it feels like their sound has more to offer to the audience.
As dreamy as the album starts, after a while you can’t deny it’s getting boring. Where other acts know how to keep the attention of the audience, A Liquid Landscape seems to fall back on the same thing again and again. A little more variation could benefit the band.
“The Largest Fire Known To Man” is an album that has pros and cons. The band has the skills, but could explore themselves a little more to keep it interesting.
