Die Krupps – The Machinists Of Joy

Releasedate: 25-10-2013; Label: Synthetic Symphony / SPV
By: Nina Mende

Die Krupps is a German industrial rock / EBM band, formed in 1980 by Jürgen Engler and Bernward Malaka in Düsseldorf. The band’s name translates as “The Krupps” and comes from the Krupp dynasty, one of Germany’s main industrial families before World War II.

In some interviews the band stated that Visconti’s 1969 movie The Damned — a depiction of the fictitious German industrial dynasty of the Essenbecks — was the main inspiration. They have now released a new full length studio album called “The Machinists Of Joy”, a tribute to the past of the band. The album cover shows the singer on a black background. The band name bold on top, below the title “The Machinists Of Joy” subtitled with the German translation “Maschinisten Der Freude”. This is their eighth album and comes with eleven regular tracks and five bonus tracks. Most of the songs on “The Machinists Of Joy” are coming with German lyrics, a few songs have English lyrics. The music is somewhere between industrial and EBM. You should definitely pay some attention to the lyrics as they are very interesting. The steady beat in the songs keep you going along to the music. The new Die Krupps album “The Machinists Of Joy” is a must have for all fans of industrial music and EBM. Go get it.
