Edenbridge is a symphonic metal band from Austria. Formed in 1998, the band has released eight studio albums so far. Most recently “The Bonding” got out.
It has been a while since we heard from Edenbridge and there has been three years since the previous release. With a new bassist on board and “The Bonding” out the band reaches out to the world again. What leads the face of this formation is the powerful voice of vocalist Sabine. Her input in the music is quite upfront and gives shape to the whole atmosphere. Somehow a whole lot of passionate drama comes forward which makes that this release is full of contrast. A song like “Into A Sea Of Souls” is for example pretty calm and only comes alive a bit after a couple of minutes. Compared to the more energetic “Shadows of My Memory” The album ends with title track “The Bonding” which is a song of over 15 minutes in which Sabine sings a duet with Erik Martensson, two voices that suit together very well.
“The Bonding” is an excellent release which Edenbridge may be proud of. The band succeeded in making the record that shows that they are still alive and may not be forgotten.
