W.E.T. – Rise up

Releasedate: 22-02-2013; Label: Frontiers Records
By: Milla Smile

“Rise up” is the second full-lenght album of the melodic rock formation “W.E.T.”. The etymology of the band’s name is simple, that’s the first letters of former bands’ titles where members spent their time earlier.

There is no mix of genres, only 100 % melodic rock. So I start with touching and heart-teasing ballads “Love heals” and “Still believe in us” with that “hair rock” romantic sense in everything from crying guitars to weeping piano and don’t forget the wide diapason of voice. In contrary I can mention dynamic “The moment” track with short verses and powerful chorus. The dark intro in “On the run” shows another side of melodic rock and cut the track into some parts. But chorus kicked again. The “Shot” track in some ways imitates a gun fire with staccato lyrics “shot, shot to the heart”. Now time for personal favourite track. That’s “What you want” which stuck into head with only the hypnotizing phrase “I’ll give what you want from me” accompanied by mighty guitars riffs. Sadly, the last track ” Still unbroken” seems a bit artificial for this album, a bit synthetic and false.

Despite of the last fact, the album is solid collaboration of guts, power and romance if we could name it so. Recommend for hair metal lovers.
