Monuments is a British formation that makes some experimental Metal. The band is bringing their debut album “Gnosis” out via Century Media.
The band has basically grown from the ashes of Fellsilent and this may cause the thoughts that this is some follow up on that, but Monuments seem to have a bit different view. At first the band simply blast you away with these strong vocals that luckily come dosed. A gentle start before hell breaks loose. Silence before the storm you could say although you should not take that silence too literally as the band shakes you up with a collection of riffs that make you listen carefully. You have the feeling you slowly get hyped up to a climax and they take their time for that. The vocal game between the screams and the clean voices works very well for the guys and the songs there are made to give you some space for it all. You never get into the chaos zone where you easily miss out on parts because there is too much to listen to. “Gnosis” has some great moments. It is not an album that you hear all the time, the band surely given it their own touch. Makes me curious what the band can bring more.
