Fortid is a black metal project that is started by Einar Thorberg. With this project he released already three albums, which formed a trilogy. Anno 2012 a new album comes out: “Pagan Prophecies”.
After a trilogy you may never know what comes next from an artist. It’s possible that a whole new book gets opened but in this case Fortid stayed with the confidential sound we got to know of them by now. Here and there it seemed a bit more drama. The emotional side in here gets addressed a little more and you can’t deny that this feels good. Overall there is a large variation of sounds, some clean vocals when needed and in other moments the tempo gets up a bit. Simply well done. What kicks in a little is that the drums sometimes come forward a bit too much and they are not the best integrated element in here, but when the guitars come in for their moments of glory you have already forgotten about that.
Fortid topped themselves with this release. They took everything a step forward and managed to make a release that shows still the band we got to know in the trilogy without stepping away too much from that. A true Fortid sound, sounds like “Pagan Prophecies”.
