De/Vision – Rockets & Swords

Releasedate: 24-08-2012; Label: Popgefahr Records / Soulfood
By: Nina Mende

De/Vision is a German synthpop musical group. The band started as a quartet consisting of Thomas Adam, Steffen Keth, Stefan Blender, and Markus Ganssert. They formed the band in 1988. The name De/Vision is a play on words. The majority of the band’s lyrics are in English, but they have had some songs in German. Twenty four years of De/Vision going strong with a new album in hands.

Now – in 2012 – they have released their twelfth album called “Rockets & Swords”, what a coincidence. Coming with twelve songs – of which two are bonus tracks – the new album is as catchy as we can expect it from De/Vision. Synthpop through and through this album is made for the dance floor. Well, at least the first half of the album is. The second half is calmer, thoughtful and deep. All songs are sung in English. The music is made electronically. The voice soft and calm all the way through the album. De/Vision created yet another brilliant album that no synthpop fan should miss out on. New album is out, so a new tour is just around the corner. Stay tuned for what De/Vision has yet to come.
