Wodensthrone – Curse

Releasedate: 23-04-2012; Label: Candlelight Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

Wodensthrone are a British formation that started in 2005. The band makes Black Metal and came with their debut in 2009. Right now they return with a second full length release called: “Curse”.

Black Metal mixed with Pagan, some combination that often can be found together. Wodensthrone is making a use of this as well, but leaves a thick highlight on the Black Metal and brings this with atmospheric passion, that warms up the cold Black Metal heart. A large dose of aggression comes with them, no hesitation on bringing up the tempo and have a good mixing going on that sets them up at their very best. While the drums are never getting to dominating, they are not falling back either, the guitars are perfectly matching with the atmospherical parts. The band surely knows how to present theirselves. The only little remark to make may be the transitions from one part to another, not always smoothly, kind of making a mean end to those parts that suck you into it. A well, Wodensthrone gave us a release that makes you curious of what else this band is up to. Definitely one that makes you hope you get to see them live.
