Project Pitchfork – Dream Tiresias!

Releasedate: 28-02-2009; Label: Candyland / Trisol
By: Sabine van Gameren

Project Pitchfork is a dark electro/industrial formation from Hamburg (Germany). They just released their new album “Dream, Tiresias”

Peter Spilles and Dirk Scheuber have been the masterminds of the by now world wide appreciated Project Pitchfork since 1989. 20 years of a tradition with many successful releases and they are still going strong. The band continuously changes their style to the music scene of the day, but always maintains their typical own influences in it. In 2001 they had their biggest success since their first release in 1991 with the album “Daimonion”

The last albums of Project Pitchfork have been a bit less spectacular as their old school hits, but with this album they slightly hit back to what they came from. There are some quite danceable songs on here. Also there are some more quiet songs on there, which you can enjoy listening during your pick nick as well. Take for example “The Tide” which is exciting but not too wild. Lyrically the band maintained some strong points of view. They surely have a lot to say. The electric elements are there to pitch it all up a bit, but there is this dark, ironic and almost depressed atmosphere heard deep down there. A glorious touch looks around the corner, and there is a victory of the evil. This describes a typical Project Pitchfork song on this album.

Project Pitchfork shows with this album once again that they are quite unique and take things a bit different than the stereotype industrial band from nowadays. The album needs to be listened more often than just a couple of times before you feel connected with it, but as soon as you got it, you will take this jewel to your heart!
