Die Antwoord is a South African Hiphop formation which surprised many with their debut album “$o$”. Now it is time for their second album “Ten$ion”.

It is not often that Hiphop makes it to Tempelores, but for Die Antwoord we could not resist on bringing it here. Haven’t we heard that “Enter The Ninja” tunes so often in backstages while waiting and how many times have we heard these guys mentioned in the same sentence with Scooter (yes!) as inspiration/influences of several bands making hard/metal/whatever core?
Same as their debut, they are giving us some songs in South African, this may make it interesting for the Dutch as there is quite some to follow from it but not all languages are that related but nevertheless it leaves an interesting mark on it all. It is not that standard sound, there is an industrial rave sound in it as they describe it themselves. Catchiness is created and with the rhymes following in the lyrics there is something commercial created. Not one song sounds like another and that works for them, they set down something quite unique but they have to be careful not to turn into a caricature of themselves in the end. For now they have given some material of which they can grow on for a while, so it seems probable that we will hear a lot of them upcoming year(s).
