Drakkar is a Power Metal band from Italy that is active since 1995. The guys have made a new full length album after about 10 years since their last one. “When Lightning Strikes” is out now.

Symphonical elements are quite a factor in this release, this combined in very catchy lyrics and melodies makes it an album that flow easily. Songs like “Winter Soldiers” are filled with the most gorgeous guitar moments you can imagine and will make the hearts of the Power Metal fan beat a little faster. The vocals in this track are maybe a bit more edgier than in the previous tracks. Also interesting is the song “The Awakening” which holds some acoustic guitar followed by the more powerful song “My Endless Flight”. The album closes quite speedy with “New Frontiers”.
“When Lightning Strikes” is an album that plays around with the different tempo’s to bring some variation. A science fiction theme is included in the story , keeping the listening s entertained for about one hour. It’s a shame that it had to take so long before it came out, it is to hope for the fans that a next one won’t take that long!
