So Much For Nothing is a band from Norway making Black Metal. It all started in 2007 and “Livsgnist” is the very first album of their hands.
En garde! Before you know it you get attacked by the name of Niklas Kvarforth of the Swedish band Shining as being a guest musician on this release. After that some more names like Peter Huss (also Shining), Live Julianne Kostøl (Pantheon I), Seidemann (1349) etc. get along.
Wondering what comes from that you soon must realize that this comes with diversity. Some screaming voices with heavy sound versus interesting instrumental surprises with saxophone and trumpet. But what is in it from themselves? Well there is Uruz at drums being a quite stable factor throughout the release and Erik Unsgaard which brings in stings and vocals. All together is got mixed into an interesting piece of music. It knows quite varied sides but that depressive, dark side remains as a major factor throughout. The beauty of this release can be found in these moments where you completely focus on the music, setting you back in their atmospheric environment to enjoy what’s been given. Quite a remarkable release, it’s not something that you hear every day and is definitely worth to listen a couple of times before deciding to like it or not like it as there is so much to be heard.
