Baby Dee – Baby Dee Goes Down To Amsterdam

Releasedate: 04-11-2011; Label: Tin Angel
By: Sabine van Gameren

Baby Dee is a singer songwriter from New York. She released a live double album “Baby Dee Goes Down To Amsterdam”.

At this release you can find a lot of material of the previous releases, Baby Dee has quite some on her name already. To get to know her via this live recording is perhaps not the easiest thing. You hear a fairy tale brought to you but you cannot really visualize it. It asks a lot of your imagination to get there, but eventually you get the feeling, because no matter how long it may take Baby Dee keeps bringing a warm, inviting sound throughout her set, played in Amsterdam. Besides singing you can enjoy the sound of piano as well as less expected instruments as harp and cello in her songs. Clearly a variable entertainer. Baby Dee speaks quite a lot with her audience and this makes the performance come closer to you if you have not been able to see it yourself before. Considering the fact that she came back in September, it is most likely you will be able to see it live yourself some when in future. A live album is not always the best way to get introduced to an artist, but for Baby Dee it works.
