Amaranthe is a Swedish formation that use to go under another name before. A name change was forced and anno 2011 the band comes with a debut full length album “Amaranthe”.
The band seemed to be a bit of a mix of what you heard before. Female vocals, typically a la All Ends. Catchy and poppy. Male vocals (harsh) in the way like Soilwork brings it and maybe a dose of Heavy Metal on the cleaner side. Instrumentally it is quite standard as well with an occasional solo that stands out a little more. But why is it an album that you can still enjoy from the beginning to the end? At first the catchiness that is in there makes you wonder how long it will take before the band will show up at the Eurovision. Then the songs are all quite short and even though there are quite some tracks on there, it leaves you with the imagination that the album is going by quite fast.
What they do, they do quite well but the question is if this band has enough of an own face to stand up strong for a longer time. It may most likely be a band that builds bridges for people towards the more heavier metal, but if they manage to keep their audience with them on future releases is yet to find out.
