The Amsterdam Red Light District – I’m Not Insane

Releasedate: 30-09-2011; Label: Red Light Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Amsterdam Red Light District is an hard core band from Lyon, France. The band started in 2005 and got their debut album out in 2009. Anno 2011 they came with an EP called “I’m Not Insane”.

After the band’s debut album, they have worked hard to come up with some new material. An EP as result which contains four new tracks. Recognize the same version of aggressive riffing, the brutality in the vocals and the strong way of composing as they had in their debut, but the band took it up a little more. What speaks for them that in this EP the band chose to show a diversity of what they can do. A full energetic song, some great instrumental beauties to be found in a song like “Left For Dead” or bringing up the vocals a little more. It is all captured in about 15 minutes on this EP.
“I’m Not Insane” captures the strongest points of what the band showed in their earlier released debut album and grew onto that. It surely opens your eyes if they weren’t already and let us anxiously wait for the upcoming full length release.
