Hailing from Chicago are the Rock ‘n Roll metallers Bible of the Devil and have completed their fifth full length album entitled “Freedom Metal”, which is a follow-up on their 2006 release “The Diabolic Procession”. The band has been around for almost 10 years now and have been on stage many times. You could say they are veterans because they also play classic metal.
Guitarist and vocalist Mark Hoffman about their new release: “This is a true heavy guitar lover’s album. One for people who would rather actually plug a real Les Paul into a Marshall and just lay waste than those who would merely simulate shredding on their Playstation 3. Although, they too, are invited to the party. And they know how to build a party as they have played over 500 gigs. The last track on the album “500 more” tells you that they are willing to stay around.
The sound of the band is taking me back to the classic metal from the 80s, When their singer Mark starts I think I am listening to a sort of Ozzy Ozbourne and the music does bring you back to Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and more bands from those days. The Rock ‘n Roll can be heard in tracks like “Night Oath” and “Hijack the Night” which are the first two of the album. The fifth track on their album “Heat Feeler” is a lesser up-tempo track with a cleaner sound of the guitars and easy singing tunes. Altogether I think it is a nice album, much of it has been done before but if you like the classic metal from the 80s you should give it a try.
