Envy The Fallen is a British formation making Melodic Hardcore. Themselves seem to use the term Cornish Metal for it, referring to their location as well. The band formed in 2008 and comes now with the EP “Hoist The Colours”.
Sure, it is yet another release in line of expectations, but as said the melodics are quite important in the band. Obviously, the put it upfront leaving the vocals as a sort of stitching between it all where others often let the vocals be more leading. So a slight other approach. But the band does not give in on any brutality. That is exactly what the vocals are for, outnumbering the drums which are so far away in the mix. A bit of a pity it is, as it all could have been more stronger and highlighted with some more drums as dominant part. But the band has its connection with the Melodic Death Metal as well and this has its charm. It may split the audience a bit in how much they appreciate it, but what these tracks radiate above all is that this music goes hand in hand with a strong live performance. So that is one of the major point of recommendation for this release. Listen to it and get all hyped up for seeing them live!
