Devil is a band that makes a combination of Doom and good old Rock from the 70’s. The band comes from Norway and “Time To Repent” is their debut album.
The album sounds like it has been recorded back in the 70’s, qua music style and production. Kinda happy with the classical sound the guys feel comfortable checking out the NWOBHM bands and get their share of it within their own music. Recently it was the Swedish Ghost who got this music back alive and yet this band follows quite soon, a great happening for those who are into the genre, especially because Devil got their plan quite straight. Sure, it is not the most comprehensive sort of music nowadays, but it is full of nostalgia and that surely works out well. The songs pass by smoothly having a bit of a dirty blues background. Maybe not everyone is pleased with the outdated production, but it fits in the atmosphere. Not much words are needed to describe what it is. “Time To Repent” is an album that simply works for the old rockers. Before you know it you see them at every festival as Ghost manage to do this year.
