Death Wolf is a Swedish formation that first played under the name Devil’s Whorehouse. It contains Marduk’s guitarist Morgan Håkansson and their album “Death Wolf” is out now.
Yes, a new name may bring you to the thought of a different style chosen, but that does not really seem to be the case here. The band remains with some punkish metal that has a bit of the Misfits in them. The guys come with a quite varied album which is quite welcome. Does not get you bored easily and this is exactly why “Death Wolf” is one to keep. The music is well balanced, bringing you a playful mix that hits you most on the aggressive side, seeking for that tension in them that comes out continuously. Sure it is not exactly the most original album out here, but the band brings the variation and good skills. Hear the vocals being perfectly matching with the riffage and the strong bass present, but what stands out most are the drums that are quite upfront.
Death Wolf came with an interesting release, but if the need to change the name was really making a big difference? We doubt it.
