The California based grind core band Phobia released a new album called “22 Random Acts Of Violence”.
The band started in 1990 mixes grind with punk to create their sound. They have seen a lot of the world, during the various tours. As you might expect from the album title, the album contains 22 tracks. Some of them, giving the essence of the song in short time. For example, “MPV” only lasts 11 seconds.
Their anger comes forward straight away; the production is tight, not too much to interpretation left. Take it as it comes. Purists might dislike the genre flirting, but as it comes to me it turned out well here. They got my attention mostly with the amazing instrumental mix. It turned out that Phobia takes that brutal sound to a next level. I liked the maybe a little arrogant attitude taken into their music.
22 acts later, I am surprised that I already finished listening to the album. A not full time grind core fan should probably not buy the album, but will appreciate it anyway. Maybe they should consider to give it a chance as well.
