The Polish Baab Kulka is a formation that got together to cover Iron Maiden. Their self titled album is out now.
Dear metal heads, please be warned. If you read Iron Maiden covers than you might have gotten the idea of some rock or metal formation that brings the power of these classics alive, nothing is like that when it comes to Baaba Kulka. Be prepared to a more jazz/indie approach of these confidential sounds. Probably not what the average metal fan is waiting for at all.
But it must be said, decent vocals, a surprising edge to this sound and overall just a couple of nice songs. Fair enough, you start wondering why the hell this band chose to do covers instead of making their own material as the qualities are surely there and Iron Maiden cover bands are existing all over the world in large numbers. Ah well, when you enjoy listening to this band and their inventive way of covering, you might be well pleased to know that there is also a DVD with seven songs and some extra’s on it. For those who are not strictly attached to the original versions of the Maiden songs, this is one to consider!
