Releasedate: 2010; Label: Doomentia Records
By: Sabine van Gameren
Earthride is a Doom formation from USA. The band has started in 1997 and “Something Wicked” is the band’s third full length release. It got released in 2010 originally.
These Americans make tradition Doom Metal, though as it seems the band is not the most productive with three albums in 14 years. It says its forgiven, traditional means traditional so be prepared for a production on this release that may be more typical in the past than it would be in modern days. It seem to suit the guys well though, a little playful actually. It has its highlights in the guitars, being deep and groovy. What seem to be less steady is the voice of Dave Sherman. It seems a bit experimenting here and there and it may have been better to have a strong, secure sound coming from there, which makes a deeper impression. Though, if you look at it throughout the whole album, it ain’t that bad as it may have sound before. The searching around just does not always bring up the best out of Dave. Ah well, let’s see what will be next on a future release., The right path may have been found and then the album comes out as one you don’t want to miss.
