Lake Of Tears – Illwill

Releasedate: 29-04-2011; Label: AFM Records
By: Nina Mende

Lake of Tears is a Swedish band, generally considered to play gothic metal and doom metal. However, their sound has evolved considerably over the course of their career, expanding to include psychedelic rock and progressive metal. Lake of Tears was founded in 1990 and released their first album in 1994. The band broke up in 2000 amid creative differences, but reunited in late 2003. Shortly after that they released their new and seventh album. Quite some time passed until their next album was ready.

By now Lake of Tears have released eight albums with the latest being called “Illwill” including ten new tracks. Listening to the new Lake of Tears album it reminds a little bit of Motörhead. Only Lake of Tears is faster and also darker at some points on the album. The gloomy voice adds a certain depth to the music, a dark world Lake of Tears is leading you into during the ten tracks on “Illwill”. The special edition of the album comes with additional live tracks. Lake of Tears’s new album goes by quite fast, even though a duration of 40 minutes is average. Great music, an album full of rocking metal. Dark yet thriving. Lake of Tears’s new album “Illwill” is out now. Go get it.
