Releasedate: 25-03-2011; Label: Pure Legends Records
By: Sabine van Gameren
Stargazery is a Finnish Heavy Metal band. They formed in 2006 and so far they have not released much. “Eye On The Sky” is not only their debut, but also the very first album that comes out on Pure Legend Records, a sublabel of Pure Steel Records.
With Stargazery the label got themselves a good name start with and after a slight disappointment over the Whitesnake album, Stargazery gives the answer. Catchy, melodic song which seem to bring a somehow surprising result. The songs are strongly composed and do not compromise to making songs more bombastic than is needed. With the vocals of Jari Tiura is not much wrong either. He puts a characteristic stamp on the music. Guitars are an interesting part of the music as well. It speaks very much in the advance of these Finns that they keep their modesty with that. There are some solo’s. obviously, but it doesn’t get cheesy, overdone and ego-showcasing. Keys by Marco Sneck (known from big names like Poisonblack, Kalmah, Charon etc) bring various additions to the songs. Hear a bit of Sonata Arctica influences at one point and on other moments he takes it more to his own way.
The album is produced very well and it is a very nice surprise. Is this their debut, this will absolutely have its following soon. Most importantly: It is nice, play it twice! And million more times after that, because this is album you have been waiting for!
