By: Nina Mende

White Lies are an English alternative rock band from Ealing, London. Formerly known as Fear of Flying, the band consists primarily of Harry McVeigh (lead vocals, guitar), Charles Cave (bass guitar and backing vocals), and Jack Lawrence-Brown (drums). The band perform live as a five-piece, complemented by sidemen Tommy Bowen and Rob Lee.

This is the second full length album of White Lies. I had to listen to the new release “Rituals” quite many times to figure out what to write about it. Not because it is bad or boring or anything, no. Simply because it left me speechless. “Rituals” is another amazing album of the White Lies. Timeless, just like their previous album “.. To Lose My Life”. The music is keeping you in a state somewhere between awareness and drifting off into a dreamland, you feel like being deep under hypnosis. “Rituals” definitely gets your thoughts wandering! With an awesome voice and amazingly clear and big arrangements you feel like your mind is wandering towards the horizon, with no boundaries. White Lies created a whole new world with “Rituals”, a world built by their music and filled with your thoughts. The lyrics are deep and are definitely going underneath your skin. And they stay there, sneaking back into awareness when you least expect it. White Lies always manage to create something mysterious and addicting with their music. Just like “…To Lose My Life” the songs seem plain at first but already then leave a long lasting impression on you, which stays unnoticed until later. The more you listen to the album, the more you sink into it though and can’t get your mind off it anymore. Each song has so much to explore in itself, and draws from your personal experience which it makes you relate to. “Rituals” is an amazing album, leaving the listener speechless and breathless, and in a sort of trance that you will never awake of completely. Get the new White Lies album “Rituals” before it get’s you!
