Raunchy, the Danish Melodic Metal band, has been very successful in their own country as well as crossing the borders several times. At the release of their previous album “Wasteland Discotheque” we spoke extendedly about the touring etc. (interview) Now their fifth studio release “A Discord Electric” is out.
It might be a bit of shock for the die-hard Raunchy fans. This album is quite clean compared to their previous work. For those who have read our interview with the band they might have expected something different as Kaspar (vocals) had said he would like to try that. Tried, perhaps but the outcome seems different. Though it is as experimental as that he said they are and so the perception didn’t seem to wrong at all. So the balance that Raunchy always have brought between poppy sound and the metal side that is also there, does not seem to be that broken, considering the fast instrumental backing.
With the melodic parts they even seem to have taken a taste of Industrial, but that is not the core thing in here. It is a fact that they keys seem to come quite upfront and when you get further in this track list you start wondering if you are just fooling yourself if you thought this album was less heavier than before. It’s different, but still so Raunchy. For fans it’s yet another album to love, but for all other melodic metal fans it might be the introduction to a band that is always on the move. Not album sounds like what they have done before but they always stay true to their selves. Our advice: BUY!! And that had to be capitalized, yes!
