Weezer is an American alternative rock band that formed in Los Angeles in 1992. The band consists of Rivers Cuomo (lead vocals, guitar), Patrick Wilson (drums, backing vocals), Brian Bell (guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), and Scott Shriner (bass, backing vocals, keyboards). The band has changed lineups several times since its formation in 1992. They have released eight full-length albums, six EPs, and a DVD. Weezer has sold over nine million records in the US to date. The band is best known for their successful singles “Buddy Holly”, “Undone – The Sweater Song”, “Island in the Sun”, “Beverly Hills”, “Pork and Beans” and “Say it Ain’t So”. The band’s eighth studio album “Hurley” is now released on Epitaph Records.
During the past three years it seemed like Weezer is pooping out new albums like machines. Their latest album “Hurley” includes ten new tracks with the common Weezer-awesomeness. All songs are great to sway along. Some are funny, some are more serious. The album starts out with a very strong and powerful song called “Memories”. After that one the moods of the songs sway back and forth just like everyday’s life does. The lyrics are something everyone can relate to. Totally funny to extremely serious, the new Weezer album “Hurley” has it all. The cover is a little distracting but if you think about it for a second, it actually fits perfectly well to the album: The guy on the cover is a character from the TV series “Lost” after which the album is named: “Hurley”. Strong beginning, strong ending: “Time Flies” is a very nostalgic song, very outstanding on the album and definitely the trigger for pressing the replay button instinctively.
