Dutch formation An Evening With Knives has taken their time to come up with the debut. Some bad luck on their way but now the sweet victory of the release of “Serrated” is here.
Stoner Rock as you may have heard before, sure they don’t stray too far from the expected, but nevertheless the band has been looking at what would make it their own. With a present drum and often interesting riffs they do put their stamp on it. But the problem with the release is that in the end you hear too much of the same returning to you. Diversification is something that would help the guys keeping us listening a little longer.
Most remarkable on this release is probably the song “Hysteria” which is rather heavy, but yet makes in impression with that. A powerful track on all fronts. At least it helped overplaying the noise of a neighbors party.
Good, so there are some points the guys can work on, but it is only a debut. They seem to have a good vision of what they want to present and have enough vehemence to get it going, making this release one that plays quite nicely. Let’s see what they grow onto.
