The Finnish formation Miseria Ultima has a blend of diverse electronic styles. EBM, Aggrotech some Dark Elektro, an interesting variety to blend. This month the duo came with the album “Arctic Esotericism”, it is available now.
The guys have been around since 2016 and they quite steadily have been growing with various live performances and albums. This new one is album number four for them and shows that they have developed in bringing the album into a mode that entertains the listener from beginning to end. A story to feel and experience but not always in the most obvious shape. Some tracks are dark and dance able where others have a more melancholic feel to them.
“Spiritual Nailbomb” is a track that feels cold and distant, a calm approach that shows you not all is fairytale and sunshine while “The Cynical Point” is leading us towards a music that invades your mood and make live the party and have the track control your movements there on the dance floor. It is followed up by “Sworn To Control” which takes it all a step further. Unambiguously telling you what the band has to say.
It is good to see that Miseria Ultima has chosen to make an album that hits in different directions without losing the red thread that binds it all together. It has enough variation, but not let any track stray too far from the others. The connection with the album remains. A fine release from these Finns.
