Kornstad + Kork – Live

[schema type=”review” name=”Kornstad + Kork – Live” description=”Label: Grappa Music” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2018-02-02″ ]

Kornstad is a musician combining Jazz, Opera and improvisation. Together with Kork, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra they have had a succesfull album before and with two sold out shows in Norway they now created a full length album which reflects on these memorable live moments.

Sure, this is a somewhat remarkable release to see pass by on Tempelores, but we know a lot of our readers adore the symphonical metal which you could link to this kind of music in a way. Some of the pieces that are played are known, but there are also two own compositions included, which brings an interesting balance in the album.
The songs of Kornstad himself, “Aba” and “Plystre” are giving a bit of balance to the all, a laid back but never too much atmosphere that breaks a bit with the drama that you can hear in this release as well. Especially the cello’s in “Aba” are truly a highlight of the release.

So, no. Not metal, not rock nor pop but seriously an album that can be of the likings of prog and symphonic metal fans. And if a lost jazz fan came across our magazine, we are glad that we could serve you just as well.
