[schema type=”review” name=”7weeks – A Farewell To Dawn” description=”Label: OverPowered Records” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-11-12″ ]7weeks has been started in 2006 making Stoner Rock. Since then they have played a large amount of shows with some albums under their wings. A new one is ready, “A Farewell To Dawn” has been released at the end of this year.
With the Stoner the guys dig also into genres as blues and some grunge to find influence, a combination not unique but surely suitable for the guys. The way they embrace it into their sound is done with care, it’s never too obvious but all thought out well. They don’t take it too easy anyway, the compositions are comprehensive and leaving you with something to listen to with care and not something that could simply disappear into the background. They don’t take it lightly.
Then what must be said is that the guys have this flow in their sound. Something catchy and cheerful, makes you want to listen to it with that care it requires and then keep it for some more spins. Vocally, the guys have it all together as well. The heaviness that is thrown into it strengthens the music a lot and makes it even more massive.
7weeks has it all together, a good sound and a clear direction. With this album they will surely hit more stages than they have ever done before and I’ll be happy to witness that.
