Montage is a Finnish formation that formed in 2011. The make Rock and anno 2016 the band is releasing a second album that is called: “Metamorphosis”.
The band was previously having Mikko Heino on vocals, a name we heard a lot, but changed now to Vesa Paavonen. Whether these vocals are contributing to the sound of the band is not so sure, after a few songs, the voice of Vesa starts to bore a little. Instrumental they could have backed it up, but it remains a bit flat. Yet, we recommend you to pull through, stick it out to the end as the whole lives up at the second half of the album. The progressive touch comes forward a bit more, giving you some lovely moments to enjoy. When the guys give a bit more intensity to their music you find yourself enjoying the release most. They also make use of acoustic guitar at some parts but it just does not seem to shine as much, it’s not the strongest.
Altogether it seems a bit if the guys are still searching for their sound, maybe with a new vocalist in it, they’ll need some time to find out their strengths. Yet album is not bad, they just need to be a bit more secure and dare to go all in, let the passion be heard and then we will find the best moments.
