A Blue Fire is an Italian formation. The band makes music that is inspired by bands like Katatonia and Alcest. They released a self-titled EP recently.

Four tracks on the EP to give you an introduction to the band, the songs they give us are good in one line. They have the variation in them and yet strongly show us what they want us to hear. It starts with the song “Care”, one that is having a melodic s feel that drives you into it, the vocals take you by the hand when you stop and stare and take you along with it.
In “Hiding” the band takes a calmer approach. There is much to be found that was in “Care”, but it is slower, a bit darker and deeper. If you look at “Melt” it does less for us. It breaks a bit from what we heard before, there is drama in there but it is not the strongest track here.

The closing track “Sick” is yet another story. It’s calm and testing your ability to listen in and let it grow on you. It slowly works to the climax, which is not as present as you might think, you need to dig deep to hear the beautiful parts that make show in the end.
A good EP from A Blue Fire, a release that gives you an introduction to what they are doing. Curious to hear what would come out if they make a full length!
