Messenger – Threnodies

[schema type=”review” name=”Messenger – Threnodies” description=”Label: InsideOut Music” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-04-22″ ]Messenger formed in 2012 but the Progrockers have not wasted any time since. Already their second full length album is ready for release, it is called “Threnodies” and it is out now.

And with that second album out there, they must have gotten quite a following by now, as what we are hearing is of good quality. The band has a good feel for bringing the melody stand out there, not having the technical part take all over. Also have the guys put a lot of passion into it, making a tad bit heavier than the band’s debut.
We may say that the band has the balance in such a way that the technical side of the band is not all that draws the attention, but we must warn you not to skip all on that. The guys have the skills to lay down some interesting instrumental parts On one of your spins it could be great to give some extra attention to it, there is much to hear so with one spin you won’t get the whole of it anyway.

“Threnodies” is an album that is not solely a Prog album. It has many sides and its doomy atmospheres are giving it an extra load. The inventiveness that these guys use to blend in all is not seen very often, a great release from these guys.
