[schema type=”review” name=”Soulimage – The Whole Universe” description=”Label: Echozone” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-05-20″ ]The German formation Soulimage makes Synth Rock. Originally it was started as a one man project but now a whole band is involved and an album sees light. It is called “The Whole Universe” and is available now.
The album is one of good length, over an hour of music is waiting for you when you get this release in your hands and right from the start the band shows themselves catchy and easy to listen to. You don’t have to dig deep to pick up what these guys are about, clear lyrics a catchy tune and refrains that you sing along after the first time listening. A recognizable sound, maybe not the most unique thing around, but certainly brought with decent quality. It is a well-produced album and you can hear that the band has given all some good thought.
Most remarkable track on the album is probably “My Machine” which seems just a bit more deep compared to the rest. They step away a bit from the rest of the album with this one and gives the variation you need towards the end of the release. Also “Angel Heart” is one of the songs that draw a lot of attention, perhaps because there is a lot of space for the instrumental part to break out a bit.
Altogether it is an album that shows a band that knows what direction they want to go, perhaps a bit searching for that unique selling point, something that defines them specifically but has the qualities to live up to the potential.
