The German formation Elandor has their base in Germany. They make Gothic rock and they are currently releasing album number four. “Loveless Mind” is out now.
In 2008 the project started as a solo effort but grew out fast enough to the band they are now. Most recently they added a violinist to their line up. This release is maybe not the typical Gothic Rock from Germany release that it could be. And we are happy for it. Not yet another one. To be fair, it is not the newest thing you will hear, but the band is innovative enough to experiment with different influences to bring their sound further. Here and there I had to think of the Finnish Saralee which unfortunately did not last long, and then on the other side they are more experimenting with a bit more powerful side. A subtle touch of strings in a song like “Her Song” gives the album a bit deeper atmosphere.
Where the band could improve on is creating the contrast in the vocals. More drama, more passion to highlight some parts of the songs a bit more. This would create a more catchy edge on it, make the songs last just a little longer in your memory.
“Loveless Mind” is a fine release for a band that dares to be a bit different. They have an international approach and that suits them well.
