Naðra is an Icelandic Black Metal formation that has been formed in 2008. They have not really released much material, “Allir Vegir Til Glötunar” is their debut full length and is out now.

Icey cold they are, a traditional sound but with a more modern twist. The drama into it leads to a lot of hysteria and this dark hysteria sets through the whole album. The vocals are a major part in that and although they could be refined a bit more, they spread a lot of darkness into this atmosphere. Though this overwhelming hysteria has one downside as well. At the final song of the album you are quite over it. It does not hit you that much and you are to wonder if they become a one trick pony? A bit more variation into that would not hurt, and keeps the attention of the listener longer.
As a balance to that, we can say that the guys seem much aware of the sound they want to put down, a confidence that benefits them.

“Allir Vegir Til Glötunar” is a fine release, it ads nicely to a proper Black Metal collection, but the guys can get more out of it than they are doing right now. A first release under this name, the guys have various projects out already, so perhaps they will give us a more refined version of themselves next?
