Releasedate: ; Label: Battlegod Productions
By: Sabine van Gameren
Tony Mills is a familiar name. The Hardrocker from UK has been the voice of diverse bands but also releasing under his own name. “Over My Dead Body”.
It is not surprising to see that Tony Mills got many people to collaborate with him on the making of “Over My Dead Body” but the album seems based on a personal experience of Tony getting a heart attack. Luckily he is doing fine, but it obviously made an impression.
On the album we find a collection of passionate songs that are typical AOR without too much experimenting on it. It is straightforward, it is what it is. No need to look for layers of obscurity to make it more mystic as Tony seems quite open. Halfway the release you find the gorgeous track “Bitter Suite” which is maybe the surprising element in the release. If you haven’t felt it before, there it is. Other stars on this release are the be found at songs like “We Should Be On Right Now” and “Northern Star”.
Over all Tony Mills brings you a strong release which has a variety of tracks that keep you listening. It is straight from the heart and it almost reads like the exciting diary of your muse.
