Kat Vinter was born out of the icy Berlin winter of 2012. The Australian nomadic songwriter retreated sometimes to the bunkers of local musicians, and sometimes to the smoke filled bars and pulsing clubs to think of lyric and melody ideas.
When Kat found local German beat master Hannes Büscher and a Norwegian poet Laila Samuels, the ongoing international search for meaningful creative connections and collaborations was fulfilled. “Kat Vinter” was to be the rebirth of Kat as a solo artist, having previously trawled the clubs, art and fashion parties of both the Sydney and New York underground as an indie band member for many years. Now she has released her debut EP as a solo artist and called it “Islands”. The EP is coming with five tracks that take you on a journey through places one can only dream of. With a soft voice and beautiful lyrics Kat Vinter is drawing you into her world and does not let go until the last sound has ceased. Just to leave you craving for more. And that with only five songs. The melodies are easily getting stuck in your head. Music that walks somewhere between hip hoop, dubstep, pop and indie Kat Vinter is walking her very own path. An amazingly impressive EP that is drawing everyone’s attention. Kat Vinter is having a unique style which makes her stick out of the masses. With her beautiful songs, lyrics and voice, I am sure we will soon hear a whole lot more about her. So go ahead and check out “Islands” now.
