The Belgian band Warckon formed back in 2009. With their old school Thrash the band has made themselves a name and this year they are up for the release of their second full length album. “High Treason” is out now.
Warckon has a very recognizable sound. Unfortunately I don’t mean that it is something typically Warckon, but more into the direction of: we heard that before. Some Slayer, some Anthrax, the guys know their classics. Thought this is may not immediately motivates you to listen to it, you may sure consider to so anyway. The band brings perhaps no new sound but it seems not their intention so much anyway. Whatever they bring comes with some decent skills. And with the catchiness that comes within you have a perfect soundtrack to a good metal summer. Some highlights on the album are the track “Sleeper” which brings some variation into it or “The Samurai”. Safe the best for last, they must have thought and close the album with the track “Grief Is In The Eye Of The Beholder” which sounds like a great song for a live show.
“High Treason” is an album that has its moments. The first part of the album could have had some more variation but overall it turns out ok.
