Drone is a Thrash metal band from Germany which was founded in 2004. Their latest and self titled release is their fourth full length studio album. It comes with twelve tracks.
The music on this self titled release is thriving and energetic. Growled and sung vocals along with hammering guitar riffs and double kick on the drums complete the metal sound. The choruses are all perfect to sing and shout along to. An album for the masses. Half way throughout the album there is a song called “Hung & Over”. This is an acoustic song, the ballad on the album, with serious and quite sad vocals. But that one is also the only slow song on the album. It continues with shredding and shouting right away. “Life of Riley” starts out with the potential of a second ballad, but it turns out to be an acoustic guitar song that is more into the country section than actually being a ballad. But also a great song that goes deep and gives you a break to catch a breath. The final song on the album called “Out In The Rain” is yet another one of those slower and acoustic guitar guided song.
Those three songs are quite powerful, delivering a whole bunch of emotions and definitely touch your heart, whereas the other songs on “Drone” directly affect your muscles and cause them to twitch which causes you to go along. Drone definitely has musical potential in a lot of ways. They can make noise and get you to bang your head as well as sway along and be touched deeply. A great piece of music you shout check out for sure.
