Releasedate: 25-01-2012; Label: Frontiers Records
By: Sabine van Gameren
Jorn Lande was the singer of Masterplan for two albums, but actually is involved in various projects. In 2010 the Norwegian vocalist released an album with covers and in 2011 he brought a live album on the market. Anno 2012 released a brand new studio release called: “Bring Heavy Rock To The Land” and for 2013 it is obvious the vocalists is ready to bring another release to the world: “Symphonic”.
“Symphonic” is exactly what you may expect. Jorn Lande takes his own tracks and adds much more symphonic elements to them. As the songs are usually not really lacking of power this addition is surely interesting one. As listening to the album you may have to get used to it, because it can be a quite overwhelming sound. Jorn goes into the superlative degree with himself. Surely a nice effect, the sound is even fuller than before. Good to see that there are some moments of peace in the album so that it will not become too much on you. “The World I see” starts really beautiful, it gives you a moment to breathe while it is slowly building to its climax. He could have crossed a line, overdo it but here showing some modesty with it is highlighting the class of music we are talking about.
The track list contains various songs from Jorn, from all previous albums. Fans of Jorn will surely enjoy it and whoever is into symphonic music may enjoy it too as this album is well done!
