Father Golem is a band that started in 1999. The music they make is cross between Heavy Metal and Progressive Metal. The album “I/O” is out now.
An album like “I/O” is one that starts of quite interesting a little intro to tickle your interest and slowly the band builds to a part that is quite vehemence. The compositions on this release are well thought, the band likes to work with breaks, putting things back in tempo and then slowly start to get into a more dramatic part of the sound. This could go quite bad, but Father Golem doesn’t go that road. The band brings the attention from riffs to vocals towards to whole sound time after time without making the transitions between these become awkward. The vocals by Dani Castro may be one thing you may have to get used to at first, but while going through the track list you notice it grows. Sometimes they could put a bit more stress on some of the vocals part, it happens that you move your attention to the instruments. He does not always makes the easiest choices either, taking a risk pays off but when balancing on the border of your reach you may be careful not to fall off at the wrong side.
Overall “I/O” is a pleasant album that has great moments, you can hear the band members have good skills and the compositions work quite well. It’s a band that grows on you.
